HR OUTLOOK

TOP HR PRIORITIES IN 2007 AMONG NORDIC PLAYERS

A recent survey – “HR Outlook 2007” – conducted by the HR consulting firm MindShift shows that the business priorities of companies in the Nordic region are primarily:

  • Organisational change
  • Growth
  • Talent attraction

The three above mentioned business goals translate into the seven HR focus areas presented in the chart below.   These priorities land at the top of the agenda of companies’ Senior HR people for 2007.

Competence management being first on the list, followed by HR organisational change and thirdly, still highly important, is performance management.

Priorities and challenges of the surveyed companies based on the importance / satisfaction index show that:

  • There are five “need to act” areas (areas of high importance but low satisfaction): competence management, performance management, internal mobility, training & development and HR strategy & action planning
  • Among these areas, performance management and competence management have the highest ratings of importance for reaching business objectives in 2007

It is becoming increasingly apparent that the HR function is expected to become more and more strategic, with line managers taking on more responsibility for people management tasks. This ongoing change generates important challenges in terms of having the required competencies and finding the optimum model to deliver HR to the organization.

In order to help companies meet these challenges, MindShift has initiated two new benchmarks in which participating companies will share knowledge and together progress in these key areas.

COMPETENCE MANAGEMENT AND HR DELIVERY CHOSEN AS BENCHMARKS IN 2007

Competence Management as specified by MindShift includes different focus areas such as talent management, managing competence shifts and upgrading competencies – including the competency of the HR function.

HR delivery through the line is strongly related to performance:  As people management becomes a responsibility of line managers, organizations must identify the skills, tools and time needed to make delivery successful.

Two quotes from previous benchmarks’ participants:

"Highly valuable input to our HR Strategy discussion"

"We have launched a development project where we have utilized the results"
